Abstract
Drawing from the rich insights from developments in the new institutional economics (NIE), we take the approach that there is nothing called optimality of market mechanism, organizations and institutions. We adopt comparative economic organization of adopting market and organizational and institutional choices in seeing economic activity through or accomplishing a specific policy objective over time or at any given time. We develop a simple conceptual framework and apply it to the Indian government’s adoption of digital technology and other direct methods in reducing multidimensional poverty over time of from 2011 to 2022. India is the first country in the world which adopted digital technology of Aadhar card in reducing abject poverty in a remarkable way. This can be a good example for other countries.
