Abstract
The primary objective of this study is to develop a framework for a social indicators model which can characterize the quality of life at the level of a nation. Up to a certain extent, the development of such a model is dependent upon the particular application envisaged. For the purposes of illustration, the country of Italy was chosen for the application of the general methodology. The assessment focuses on the impact on the quality of life in Italy resulting from membership on the European Economic Community (EEC).
