Description
Veronica Mays is a native Rhode Islander who left her job as a high school English teacher to create art quilts full time. Much of her work expresses her pride in her African heritage. She created a "Black Lives Matter" quilt, a "Shades of Protest" quilt, and quilts honoring Angela Davis, Martin Luther King, and her own ancestors. She also makes hobo bags, sweatshirts, and coats based on pieced designs. Her work is often supported by grants from arts organizations.
