Abstract
What purpose does knowledge serve if it cannot be utilized or shared? As a biological sciences major and communication studies minor, with aspirations of going to medical school, I understand the unsung importance of effective communication while working as a health professional. In attempt to combine my scientific understanding with communicative skills, I created the “Eye on IR” podcast. The podcast focuses on prominent injuries within professional sports, marketed towards sports fans. As host of the podcast, I have gained significant familiarity and practice in explaining scientific concepts and processes to individuals who may not have as thorough of a background in biology as myself. Although I am far from becoming a doctor, I feel that I have developed my communicative skills and hope that one day patients will benefit from my proficiencies.
