Abstract
Biomass and cordwood production were determined for 2 seed-origin and 2 sprout-origin even-aged Acer rubrum stands. Mean annual biomass production for the seed-origin stands was 1914 kg/ha for a 26-year-old stand and 3218 kg/ha for a 55-yr-old stand. For sprout stands, production was 3318 kg/ha for a 32-yr-old stand and 2525 kg/ha for a 46-yr-old stand, suggesting that an optimum rotation age occurs prior to age 46. -from Authors
