Abstract
Presentation for the 2021 Rhode Island Library Association Virtual Annual Conference.
Have you considered writing about your professional experiences or delving into research? Are you in (or looking for) a position that requires writing or research? This panel of librarians from across the U.S., with both academic and public library backgrounds, will share tips and strategies for getting started, finding collaborators, writing, publishing, and more.
This panel will provide strategies for librarians interested in writing or researching for professional development. Panelists will discuss how to get ideas, how to find collaborators, how to get past one’s inner critic, setting goals, finding venues for publication, and more.
This panel grew from the experiences of the panelists, some of whom have writing and research as part of their job duties. Panelists include former public librarians, and those with staff and faculty experience.
This session will be useful for those who are looking to grow further in their current positions or who are looking to enhance their resumes in pursuit of further professional goals. Participants will come away with tangible strategies to use in setting their own goals and identifying clear next steps toward accomplishing them.
