Abstract
We use theoretical modeling to predict macrobending loss for single-mode fibers with arbitrary refractive index profiles. Theoretical results are in agreement with experiments, even for bend radii as low as 1 mm. The aim of this work is to find designs with minimum loss for small bends in the 1 — 8 mm regime.
