Abstract
Heat transfer in a packed bed can be represented by an effective thermal conductivity and a wall heat transfer coefficient. Both of these are actually parameters of a system and not necessarily physically meaningful conductivities or wall heat transfer coefficients. The system modeled was a tubular packed bed with two-phase gas-liquid cocurrent upflow.
