Greek Folk Dress: Application of the Ethnohistorical Method
Abstract
Ethnohistory, an interdisciplinary approach employing research methods from both anthropology and history, is applied to the study of women's folk costumes in Greece. Methodological considerations are discussed Observations are based on four research projects using documentary and ethnographic sources. A synopsis of the most recent project, entitled Costumes of Euboea, is presented to demonstrate the usefulness of the ethnohistorical method to the study of traditional dress. © 1992, Sage Publications.
