This year the seminar explores the fashion industry in New England. Speakers from many sectors of the regional textile and apparel supply chain. New England is the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution in America. The product at the time was cotton yarn spun by waterpower harnessed from the Blackstone River in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The apparel industry has a long history in New England with shoes, corsets, jewelry, and athletic wear among the fashionable products made in the region. Speakers include four of our own URI graduates.
