Abstract
The authors regret the following necessary corrections: On page 11, we state that “difficulties regulating positive emotions mediated the relation between PTSD symptom severity and alcohol misuse for women, but not for men,” while it should note, “difficulties regulating positive emotions mediated the relation between PTSD symptom severity and alcohol misuse for men, but not for women.” On pages 13–14, we state, “Moreover, we found that this indirect effect was attenuated by gender, such that difficulties regulating positive emotions mediated the PTSD symptom severity-alcohol misuse association for women, but not for men. These findings underscore the potentially key role of difficulties regulating positive emotions in our understanding and treatment of co-occurring PTSD symptom severity and alcohol misuse among women. Specifically, they suggest that heightened levels of difficulties regulating positive emotions among trauma-exposed women with elevated PTSD symptoms may increase risk for alcohol misuse. For instance, trauma-exposed women with elevated PTSD symptoms may consume alcohol to distract from positive emotion states perceived as aversive…” Each instance of “women” in this paragraph should instead read “men.” The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
