Abstract
Hardy hemlocks and salty pines were investigated. Hemlock woolly adelgid is an aphid-like insect that feeds on several species of hemlock. Within its native range, hemlock woolly adelgid feeds harmlessly on several hemlock species. Hemlock woolly adelgid has caused extensive damage to forests and ornamental plantings of both Eastern and Carolina hamlock.
