Abstract
Changes in the electronic structure of Cu(110) were studied by inducing ion bombardment. Inverse photoemission spectroscopy and Monte Carlo simulations were used in the experiment. Results helped to determine the approximate surface cell size of 12×12 atoms that were required to support a well-defined unoccupied surface state.
