Abstract

1. 1. The deep sea red crab, Geryon quinquedens, was obtained from a local, commercial processing plant. 2. 2. The raw carapace and appendages were found to contain astaxanthin ester, astaxanthin, astacene, β-doradexanthin ester and zeaxanthin ester. 3. 3. The processing waste from cooked, butchered sections contained two minor, unidentified carotenoids in addition to those mentioned above. © 1976.
