Abstract
This paper attempts to evaluate the performance of various fiber-optic sensors as applied to fracture mechanics. These sensors were either attached or embedded in fracture specimens and their performance has been evaluated on the basis of sensitivity, ease of use, linearity, accuracy and freedom from environmental noise.
