Abstract
Two types of sandwich panels, having identical core materials, but different core layer arrangement with respect to the density, were subjected to shock wave loading using a shock tube apparatus. The results indicated that a sandwich panel with a monotonously increasing core layer density outperformed that with a discontinuous core layer density.
