Abstract
An experimental study was conducted to ascertain the surface finish associated with high pressure abrasive waterjet process by a statistical approach. Three different types of materials; sintered alumina, stainless steel, and graphite composites, were used to generate a data base for the analysis. The results of study revealed that the surface roughness can be predicted by the statistical manipulation of certain process parameters. It was also found that the surface roughness can be predicted by the workpiece reactive force.
