Abstract
Digital storage and information delivery has caused a monumental shift in the way librarians and their patrons think about library space. Before digital (B.D.), space was inextricably tied to volumes of books. After the arrival of digital format (A.D.), digital storage and delivery became paramount in library planning. How we measure our value and function has changed from a physical description (volumes, stacks, centimeters) to a digital one (electronic resources, online journals, PCs, megabytes). We are moving from “volume-think” to “digital-think” as we contemplate changes in space and workflow in the academic library. © 2002 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
