Brought to you by SLA’s Data Community, this interactive session will explore essential information literacy skills that are beneficial in various work environments. At the University of Rhode Island, information literacy skills have been integrated into the curriculum through credit-bearing courses and modular tutorials. This session will provide background on the ACRL Information Literacy Standards and the Framework for Information Literacy, emphasizing the application of these skills to our current information landscape. The session will also cover current influences and effects of pandemic learning loss, the myth of the digital native, the availability of AI tools, and the influx of low-quality information on the learning landscape. Finally, participants will explore potential information literacy topics they can share with their users and identify ways to support them in developing their skills.
