Abstract
A method has been developed to determine the organic C content of marine sediments using a persulfate oxidation with subsequent measurement of CO2 by a non-dispersive IR detector. The procedure has been successfully applied to both estuarine and high-carbonate oceanic sediments. Samples analyzed by this method and a commercial elemental analyzer showed no significant difference in organic C content. © 1979.
