Abstract

The design of the Accurate Environmental Forecasting (AEF) RealTrack™ hurricane system to estimate high resolution wind speed for a given tropical cyclone is described. The numerical weather prediction (NWP) technology was used in the system. High resolution terrain and land use information were also incorporated in the framework to produce high resolution, realistic surface wind fields. The utilization of the technology to deliver more accurate and detailed forecasts of hurricane winds to public is also presented.
