Abstract
This paper discusses a novel artificial synapse implementation utilizing a PIC microcontroller. This artificial synapse controls a post-synaptic neuron based upon the frequency of pulses input from a pre-synaptic neuron. The artificial synapse is constructed to interface the Lymnaea stagnalis neuron and a neuron emulator capable of simulating this type of neuron. © 2005 IEEE.
