Abstract

A multiyear student project on the design and construction of hardware and software for a complete computer system is presented. Students use and build upon these systems over their undergraduate years. The design goals for the physical architecture of the Protosys custom hardware is to minimize student wiring drudgery, while maximizing design flexibility and pedagogical impact.
