Abstract
An American economist interviews a character from a recent popular French novel while walking through the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood in Paris. They discuss marketing, cultural hegemony, and art. The economist offers the character an academic text on advertising and capitalism. They conclude the interview the following day discussing the difference between authenticity and farce. © 2010 Association for Economic and Social Analysis.
