Abstract

So you have finally received the job offer you were waiting for - a tenure-track faculty position at an R1 university (or “doctoral university: highest research activity” institution)! If you're asking yourself, “Now what?” this letter is intended for you. In fact, this is a message I wish I had received as I was getting ready to start my job as a new assistant professor in civil, construction, and environmental engineering at Iowa State University over two years ago.
