Abstract
The effect of thermal storage on 1.0 M LiP F6 in 1:1:1 ethylene carbonate/dimethyl carbonate/diethyl carbonate with 5 wt % added lithium bisoxalatoborate [LiB (C2 O4) 2 LiBOB] was investigated. Thermal storage of LiP F6 initiates disproportionation reactions of LiBOB, which generate LiB F4, lithium difluorooxalatoborate [LiB F2 (C2 O4), Li F2 OB], and lithium tetrafluorooxolatophosphate [LiP F4 (C2 O4), Li F4 OP]. The synthesis and characterization of Li F4 OP are presented along with a preliminary electrochemical investigation of Li F4 OP -based electrolytes. © 2007 The Electrochemical Society.
