Abstract

Design for Manufacture and Assembly methods have been in widespread use in consumer products industries for over a decade. Principle benefits have been reduction of product development cost and increase in product quality and competitiveness. Current research is focused on the application of design for manufacture and assembly to the lower volume production of highly engineered products, such as those found in the aerospace industry.
