This year's seminar explores the innovation in the textile industry. This is an especially relevant topic as we are on the cusp of the fourth industrial revolution, or Industry 4.0. The word can be interpreted in the typical sense of technology innovations, but also in the broader sense of business of innovation, entrepreneurship, initiating and commercializing new ideas, design thinking, strategy development, grand challenges such as sustainability, etc. The Spring 2019 seminar explores the process and journey of innovation in the textile and fashion industry. Experts from a variety of companies and institutions are invited to explore the topic. The seminar is an advanced class designed to bring together subject matter from the entire TMD curriculum. Student are also working for additional credits to build their unique business plans for an innovative retail company addressing sustainability challenges.
