ELECTRON-PHONON COUPLING IN Nb//3Sn AND V//3Si: A TIGHT-BINDING APPROACH.

The electron-phonon coupling for V//3Si and Nb//3Sn is calculated using a method based on the localized description of superconductivity proposed by Appel and Kohn. The calculation includes pi -band contributions and the effects of second nearest neighbors. The coupling is weak for both materials, and the small values of lambda approximately 0. 2 are attributed to the narrow bandwidths. The sensitivity of the results to changes in the parameters is examined.
