Abstract
Reference is made to some recent papers by the author (1991) and (1992), in which VQ codebooks were constructed from the codewords of binary linear block codes. Rather than a full-search implementation, the author considered a syndrome-based mapping. Nonlinear codes and negacyclic codes are considered, including the [15,256,5] code outlined by A. W. Nordstrom and J. P. Robinson (1967).
