Acoustic wave propagation in fluid-loaded elastic ducts
Abstract
This study is directed at investigating harmonic and transient acoustic propagation in fluid-loaded elastic cylindrical shells and rigid ducts. A comprehensive study dealing with the development of a time domain method that is suitable for a large class of structural acoustic problems is presented. The method is developed and applied to shells and structures loaded internally by a fluid such as pipes and ducts. Additional research pertaining to time domain and frequency domain methods suitable for evaluating the propagation characteristics associated with rigid ducts is also developed in this study. Several specific problems are addressed using analytical, numerical, and experimental methods. For all problems, an extensive series of results are presented and discussed in detail. ^
