Waves in cylindrical systems
Abstract
This is a study of the propagation of acoustical waves in contiguous fluid and elastic cylinders. A transfer matrix approach is used to develop models of a fluid cylinder, a fluid tube, the external medium, and thin elastic shells.^ An analytical and experimental investigation of the dispersion of transient impulses in thin elastic shells is presented using transform techniques and joint time-frequency distributions. ^
